K League 1 Recap: 2017 K League MVP Lee Jae-sung shines again while foreign players prove themselves

2. The Best Foreign Player

Foreign players put in good performances this round. Pohang Steelers’s Léo Gamalho, Ulsan Hyundai’s Júnior Negrão, Suwon Samsung’s Wagner da Silva Souza Jeju United’s Tiago Marques Rezende led the team to earn three points. Among them, Jeju’s Tiago deserves special mention.

The last season’s runner-up Jeju struggled against Incheon United. While possessing the ball 44% of the time only, Jeju made 13 attempts only while Incheon made 19 attempts.

However, Jeju had Tiago. He scored an opener in the 21st minute. On 33 minutes, Tiago intercepted the ball and dribbled across the half line and passed to Kim Hyeong-ug who managed to find the net.

Tiago’s speed and technique saw another result as Tiago scored the winning goal in the 70th minute. This is the second consecutive match he scored. With two goals and one assist, Tiago can be called the best foreign player of this round.
