ANALYSIS: South Korea’s problems found in a friendly against Poland

2. Fruitless attack

Poland scored three goals rather easily. While the fundamental reason is that South Korea conveyed a problem in defense, another reason could be from attack.

South Korea didn’t seem to play as planned. Son Heung-min and Lee Jae-sung made chances to counterattack, but the gap between defenders and forwards was too wide for passes to be accurate. Defenders were too busy passing the ball to forwards, but did not utilise teammates well enough. This allowed Poland to intercept and counterattack.

Poland’s attack became dull after Levandowski was substituted out. Korea used this opportunity by deploying more forwards and attacking midfielders. While it helped Korea dominate the game in the second half, finishing could be better.
