Andres Iniesta will reportedly demand a payoff of £10 million before leaving Barcelona for Chinese Super League this summer.
Iniesta’s intention was revealed by Barcelona teammate Gerard Pique according to Spanish news outlet Diario Gol.
Iniesta has previously admitted that he had been linked with a move to a Chinese Super League club.
Despite signing a ‘lifetime’ contract with the Catalan giants last season, the 33-year-old midfielder has made up his mind on moving to the Far East following the current European season, Diario writes.
The paper also claims that Iniesta will seek a payment exceeding the £8.7m given to another club legend, Xavi Hernandez, before he joined Qatari club Al Sadd SC.
The Barca captain allegedly feels betrayed by the actions of star strikers Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, who pushed for the signing of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool during the January transfer window.
Iniesta’s minutes in Ernesto Valverde’s squad have dropped since Coutinho’s arrival, and they would be expected to fall even further next season once the Brazilian is eligible to play in the Champions League.
The player has reportedly drawn interest from Tianjin Quanjian, a rumor the club has denied.
