Real Madrid president Florentino Perez dismisses Ronaldo’s move to China

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez dismissed speculation that superstar Cristiano Ronaldo would leave the Santiago Bernabeu to join a Chinese Super League side.

Ronaldo has been rumored to target a move to the Far East after former Portugal and Guangzhou Evergrande coach Luiz Felipe Scolari revealed that the Portuguese forward had asked him about China for several times.

However, Perez said Ronaldo has not asked to leave the Champions League defending champions.

“He hasn’t asked us to leave, he has a contract for another year but when the results are not great…,” Perez told the Spanish news outlet AS.

“If you have a friend who lives in Hong Kong, you ask him how he is in Hong Kong, it’s normal,” he added.

Ronaldo, 33, is still in fine form as he has scored 37 goals in 35 games in all competitions for Madrid this season. He is now trailing rival Lionel Messi by just three goals in the race for the Golden Boot.
