Ceará Sporting Club announced the appointment of Leonardo Vitorino, former coach of Cambodia national team, as their new technical director.
After nearly half a year out of the football scene, Vitorino has returned to Brazil and is handed the technical directing role in Ceará Sporting Club at Brazil’s top flight Campeonato Brasileiro Série A.
Vitorino has a 21-year experience in managing the clubs in his homeland Brazil and many others in Africa, Europe and Asia.
In March 2017, the 44-year-old Brazilian was handed the coaching post of Cambodia national team, replacing the South Korean tactician Lee Tae-hoon.
Despite his promise and efforts to develop Cambodia youth football, he struggled at the helm of the senior national side with only one win over Afghanistan in the 2019 Asian Cup qualification this July.
Vitorino was axed by Football Federation of Cambodia in October, following the disastrous winless runs of both national and U-23 teams.
