Uzbekistan won the 2018 AFC U-23 Championship after beating Vietnam 2-1 after extra-time at the Changzhou Olympic Sports Centre on Saturday final.
In a heavy snowing condition in China, it was Uzbekistan who took the lead eight minutes into the match when Rustamjon Ashurmatov headed home from Dostonbek Khamdamov’s corner.
The Southeast Asian side had recovered as Nguyen Quang Hai struck a brilliant free kick to level the score at 1-1 four minutes before halftime.
Uzbekistan continued to press, however, none of both sides were unable to score another goal in the regular time.
With just a minute remaining in extra-time, substitute Andrey Sidorov volleyed home from close range to seal the dramatic title for the Uzbeks.
