Uzbekistan upset defending champions Japan in the AFC U23 Championship quarter-finals with a stunning 4-0 win on Friday.
The Uzbeks broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when Javokhir Sidikov was firing from outside the box.
Just three minutes later, a mistake from Yugo Tatsuta allowed Dostonbek Khamdamov to make it 2-0 in the close range before Yakhshiboev found the back of the net in the 39th minute.
Yakhshiboev scored his second just two minutes into the second half to seal the 4-0 victory for Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan will face the winners of the Saturday afternoon’s quarter-final between South Korea and Malaysia in the last four on January 23.
