Malaysia U-23 coach Ong Kim Swee will finalize the 23-man squad for the for the 2018 AFC Under-23 Championship following the friendly against Syria U-23.
The friendly, which is also the final test for Kim Swee and his side, will take place at the Jiangsu Training Centre Stadium in Nanjing on Friday.
“The Syria game will give me the best idea on who to pick for the starting XI for the tournament proper,” said Kim Swee, as quoted by The Star.
“We’re focused on the tactical strategies. I want to see our team playing to their strengths against Syria.
“We need to win the ball more, especially in the middle and have better control of the game.”
Malaysia U-23 team arrived in Nanjing on Sunday for the training sessions ahead of the AFC tournament.
In China, they have been drawn in Group C with Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
