Former Germany international Christian Ziege takes over coaching job at Ratchaburi FC

Former Germany international Christian Ziege has taken up the coaching position of Thai League 1 side Ratchaburi FC, the club announced yesterday.

Ziege replaces Spaniard coach Pacheta, who left the Dragons at the end of last season after leading them to the sixth position of the league.

The 72-cap Germany international won the European title in 1996 and played in the 2002 World Cup final against champions Brazil.

He won two Bundesliga titles and a UEFA Cup during his spell at Bayern Munich from 1990-1997.

The former defender also played for AC Milan, Middlesborough, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, and Borussia Moenchengladbach.

After hanging up his boots in 2005, Ziege coached Borussia Monchengladbach U-17, Arminia Bielefeld and SpVgg Unterhaching, as well as Germany’s U-18 and U-19 sides.
