A 1-0 victory over Chiang Rai United on Sunday night confirmed a berth for Muangthong United in next year’s AFC Champions League playoffs.
With this victory, the Kirins have secured their second spot in the Thai League 1 table since their contenders Bangkok United were thrashed 3-1 at home by Buriram.
The victory also gave Muang Thong a mental edge over Chiang Rai, who they face in the League Cup title showdown on 22 November.
Muangthong lose hope on the triple after being stripped of their Thai League 1 title by arch foes Buriram United and ousted from Thai FA Cup by Chiangrai.
