Muangthong United were knocked out of the Thai FA Cup after semifinal after being ousted 4-3 by Chiangrai United in the penalty shoot-out on Wednesday.
Chiangrai stunned Muangthong by taking a 2-0 lead with goals from Suriya Singmui and Sivakorn Tiatrakul.
However, the 2015 Thai FA Cup winner fought back as Charyl Chappius scored his first for the club before Heberty Fernandes nailed his shot to secure the 2-2 draw in the final 10 minutes.
After a goalless 30 minutes of extra-time, both sides missed three penalties in the shoot-out. Then Chiangrai goalie Chatchai Prombutr denied a kick from Siroj Chatthong before Chaiwat Buran’s shot send Chiangrai to the final.
Chiangrai will face Bangkok, who smashed Chiang Mai United 3-0, in the final on 25 November.
