North Korea and Malaysia to play AFC Asian Cup qualifiers at neutral venue

Two 2019 Asian Cup Group B qualifying match between Malaysia and North Korea will be played at a neutral venue, according to the official announcement from Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The original match day had been postponed twice due to political tensions between both countries, which leads to a ban by the Malaysian Government on its citizens traveling to North Korea.

“In the interests of competition fairness, it has been decided that both matches between the two countries will be played at the same neutral venue,” the AFC said in the statement.

North Korea’s home match will take place on 10 November and both teams will play the return fixture three days later, it added.
