PSSI to consult FIFA after Choirul Huda’s death

The death of goalkeeper Choirul Huda raises the alarm for Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) to pay more attention to first aid in the field.

On Tuesday, PSSI deputy chief Joko Driyono said its medical division started an investigation into the death of Persela Lamongan goalkeeper Choirul Huda, who had died after an on-field collision with teammate Ramon Rodriguez and Semen Padang FC striker Marcel Sacramento on Sunday.

“PSSI realizes that the improvement of on-field first-aid is quite rapid, we want this case to be discussed with FIFA,” Driyono told Goal Indonesia.

“There are cases that should be handled thoroughly in the field, so they do not have to be rushedly taken to the hospital and so on,”

“Therefore, PSSI realizes that this is a very serious investigation, we have to discuss not only at the level of PSSI but even to FIFA. There are many cases, such as sudden heart attack, cardiac arrest, head injuries and so on.”
