Two people were injured by firecrackers in Perak Stadium at the end of the Malaysia Cup semi-final between Perak and Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) last night.
The match ended in a 1-1 draw ahead of the second leg at Larkin Stadium in Johor Bahr on 21 October.
As reported by the New Straits Times, the injured include a football fan and a policeman after home fans hurled firecrackers at the end of the match.
“Several arrests were made, including those suspected of hurling the lit firecrackers,” Ipoh district police chief Sum Chang Keong told reporters at the stadium.
“Based on our observation, the commotion involved home supporters. Most of the visiting fans had already left the stadium in buses earlier,” he added.
Due to those arising illegal conducts, security will need to be paramount during the second-legged match at Larkin Stadium.
