Matthew Davis has expressed his disappointment after Pahang finished runners-up in the FA Cup following their 3-2 loss to Kedah in the final on Wednesday.
The Australian-born player also suffered his second heartbreak when the national Under-23 team lost 1-0 to Thailand in the SEA Games football final last month.
Now, his side have to fight for the second spot in the Super League with three matches remaining, while Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) have wrapped up the league title.
“That’s my story this year, but I’ll learn from these experiences,” said Matthew on Tuesday, as quoted by The Star.
“Having these big matches under my belt is a good thing and will hold me in good stead.
“It’s disappointing to enjoy a good run to the final, get all hyped up and then end up not winning titles.
“We are focused on finishing as high as possible in the league. Finishing second might get us into the AFC Cup and that’s a big motivation.”
