Vietnam national team captain Nguyen Van Quyet has shown his respect to opponents Cambodia ahead of the AFC Asian Cup qualification clash on Tuesday at Phnom Penh.
“We had to fight hard to earn an away draw to Afghanistan while Cambodia won, which proves that Cambodia are a strong team to play,” Quyet told Dan Tri reporters.
“We are having the strongest squad, but in football, it is difficult to confirm anything before the game starts. In my opinion, Vietnam and Cambodia have equal chance to win this game,” he added.
In the 2019 AFC Asian Cup 2019 qualifiers, Vietnam are currently third in Group B with two points, having drawn with Afghanistan (1-1) and Jordan (0-0) in their first two matches.
