Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has yet unveiled the replacement for Nguyen Huu Thang after Vietnam U-22 head coach quitted from his post for the embarrassing elimination of his team in this year’s SEA Games.
Thang had signed the two-year contract with VFF, which means he would lead both national and U-22 team until March 2018. However, his early termination requires the football governing body rushing for a candidate to sit in the “hot seat” that Thang left.
Speaking to local media, VFF general secretary Le Hoai Anh revealed the potential candidates although there has not been any official confirmation about the contract with Thang.
“There are some possible candidates to replace Nguyen Huu Thang, namely women’s team head coach Mai Duc Chung, U-19 coach Hoang Anh Tuan and even technical director Jurgen Gede,” he said, as quoted by Dan Tri Newspaper.
Thang announced his resignation shortly after the 3-0 defeat to arch rivals Thailand, which saw Vietnam eliminated from the competition.
With AFC U-23 championship qualifier against Cambodia coming up in less than 10 days, Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has to rush for a contemporary replacement for Thang.
