Indonesia U-22 secure SEA Games semi-final spot with win over Cambodia

Indonesia U-22 have qualified for the semi-finals of 2017 SEA Games after securing a 2-0 victory over Cambodia U-22 on Thursday.

It was a ‘must win’ game for the Young Garuda in order to advance as they started the match from third position of Group B, regardless the result between Thailand and Vietnam.

Cambodia were facing an uphill battle from the moment Choum Pisa was sent off a couple minutes before the break after fouling Ricky Fajrin.

Luis Milla’s men made their numerical advantage count in the 55th minute when substitute striker Ezra Walian converted opponent’s mistake past Julio Cesar.

Persib Bandung youngster Febri Hariyadi doubled the score and sent the Shah Alam Stadium crowd into the wild in the 69th minute through a wonderful long-range strike.

Following the win, Thailand’s 3-0 victory over Vietnam at the same time at Selayang Stadium meaning Indonesia successfully sealed a place in the last four.
