Vietnam U-22 coach talks about Cambodia’s defensive weaknesses after watching session

Vietnam U22 head coach Nguyen Huu Thang has pointed out the weaknesses of Cambodia, his next rivals in the SEA Games group stage.

After winning their first match against minnows Timor Leste, Thang and his assistants remained at Selayang Stadium to observe the next Group B match between Cambodia and the Philippines, which took place at the same venue.

Despite speaking highly of the Cambodia players, the Vietnamese coach claimed that Leonardo Vitorino’s side made noticeable mistakes in their defending process.

“Cambodian players made a lot of mistakes in defense, they seemed likely to pass the ball carelessly when under pressure,” Thang said to his assistants, as quoted by Tuoitre.vn.

Moreover, the former Vietnam international suggested that his players would find it easier to score if they tried to apply continuous pressure.

“Cambodia team captain, defender Soeuy Visal, often put his team-mates into alerting situation with his side passes. If one of our players like Cong Phuong, Van Toan, and Hong Duy can take advantage of the rivals’ mistakes, we can easily secure a win,” Thang added.
