Former AC Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda has joined Mexican club CF Pachuca in a surprise move.
The deal has been announced by the Liga MX side on their official social media on Friday and Honda himself tweeted in Spanish: “I’ve just signed for Pachuca. I hope to see the fans soon.”
Previously, Honda had reportedly been ready to join Major League Soccer after becoming a free agent at the end of the Serie A season with AC Milan.
A week ago, the Japanese international was training with local United Soccer League side Orange County SC, who play in the second-tier of the American soccer pyramid.
Joining Pachuca, Honda will have a chance to play the Club World Cup in December as the Mexican club is currently the CONCACAF Champions League holder.
