Indonesia withdraw from 2023 AFC Asian Cup bid

According to the announcement from Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) has withdrawn from the bidding process for the hosting of the AFC Asian Cup 2023.

The country previously co-hosted the AFC Asian Cup in 2007 with Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

After the withdrawal of Indonesia, China, South Korea and Thailand are the remaining countries on the race to host the regional premier event in 2023.

A few days ago, PSSI has expressed its willingness to lead regional bid to co-host 2034 World Cup.

On Thursday, the governing body of Indonesian football said that it has government support for a bid to co-host the most prestigious association football tournament in the world with other Southeast Asian countries, as reported by Nikkei.
