Chinese FA denies 2034 World Cup bid reports

Chinese Football Association (CFA) has denied reports stated that it had submitted an official bid for 2034 FIFA World Cup.

On Monday, a respected China football reporter Ma Dexing wrote that an official bid for the 2034 edition of biggest football tournament in the world would be submitted this week.

However, the CFA responded to the rumors on its official Weibo account by saying that they have yet to decide when to host the World Cup.

“Some media are hasty. We editors are eager to see the World Cup games on our home soil in fact,” the CFA post said.

“But we should also be careful in our work, for this reason, we have to say that the CFA hasn’t bid for any edition of the World Cup.

“The news that ‘CFA have confirmed to launch bid to host 2034 World Cup’ is not true.”

According to the current rules, 2034 edition is the earliest year China can host World Cup after 2022 edition which will be held in another Asian country, Qatar.
