7 candidates who could succeed Kiatisuk as Thailand national team head coach

Following Kiatisuk Senamuang quit as the national team’s head coach, Football Association of Thailand (FAT) is in search for someone to fill the vacancy.

Thai FA President Somyot Poompunmuang has already expressed FAT’s preference to appoint a coach who has successfully helped a country to the World Cup finals before.

Here are seven candidates who could enter the race to be the next Thailand’s head coach, according to Thai media.

1. Alejandro Sabella

In 2014, Sabella helped Argentina advance beyond the quarterfinal of the World Cup for the first time since 1990, only to lose against Germany in the final.

At the club level, he managed Estudiantes from 2009 to 2011, winning the Argentine Primera División Apertura championship and the 2009 Copa Libertadores.

Sabella is currently unemployed following his resignation from the Argentina’s national team after the 2014 World Cup.
