Here are five Southeast Asian teams who participated, or qualified, to play in the Youth World Cup tournaments.
1. Indonesia (1979 FIFA World Youth Championship)
Indonesia were invited to play in the 1979 FIFA World Youth Championship as a replacement for Iraq. The team were in group B of the tournament, along with Yugoslavia, Poland, and Argentina – which had a young Diego Maradona in its line-up.
The young Garuda suffered three defeats, conceding 16 goals without scoring a single goal at the tournament.
