Australia to play Brazil in Melbourne friendly

Australia will play against Brazil at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on June 13 as their preparation ahead of the FIFA Confederations Cup.

The Socceroos will face the five-time World Cup champions in a friendly game, four days after Brazil take on Argentina at the same stadium.

The most recent meeting between the two sides resulted in a 6-0 friendly victory for Brazil in September 2013, which contributed to former coach Holger Osieck’s dismissal.

Under Ange Postecoglou’s guidance, Australia are currently third out of six in their group in the third round of Asia’s 2018 World Cup qualifiers, having won two and drawn three of their five games played.
