Jack Grealish has been advised to leave Manchester City and join a Premier League rival, with Tottenham Hotspur emerging as a potential destination. The 29-year-old midfielder was omitted from Thomas Tuchel’s first England squad, highlighting his struggles this season at City, where he has failed to score in the Premier League.
Grealish’s limited impact has seen him start only three games in 2025, all in the FA Cup, despite being available for nearly all of City’s matches. With two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract, a summer exit is increasingly likely. Former Watford striker Troy Deeney believes Tottenham could be the ideal fit for Grealish, who has been sidelined by Pep Guardiola.
Deeney stated, “I think it’s nailed on that he’s going to leave now,” adding that Guardiola’s handling of Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne this season has been questionable. He suggested that a move to Spurs could provide Grealish with the consistent playing time he needs to revive his career, though it may require a reduction in wages.
Tottenham previously showed interest in Grealish in 2018, but their £25 million bid was rejected by Aston Villa. City later signed him for a record £100 million in 2021. Despite winning six trophies with City, Grealish has struggled to justify his price tag and missed out on England’s Euro 2024 squad. His recent off-field activities, including a night out in Newcastle, have also drawn attention, though Guardiola emphasized that he judges players based on their on-pitch performances.
