Luka Romero became the youngest player to make his La Liga debut at the age of 15 years and 229 days after coming off the bench in the 83rd minute for Real Mallorca despite suffering from 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid.
That means Romero break an 80-year old record held by Francisco Bao Rodríguez, who made his first La Liga appearance for Celta Vigo in 1939 aged 15 and 255 days.
There has been a speculation that Romero could break the record since he had been an unused substitute in Mallorca’s three previous matches since the season resumed.
His father, Diego Romero was a former footballer in a lower league in Argentina.
Luka was born in Mexico but represents Argentina at youth level and has been at Mallorca’s academy since age 10, having moved to Spain aged two.
He has been widely known as the Mexican Messi or the next Lionel Messi.
