Jadon Sancho of Borussia Dortmund has managed to edge out Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford in the FIFA Football’s Staying Home tournament.
Rashford had taken the lead in their online clash on Friday before Sancho equalised with a brilliant combination. Sancho secured the win through a Raheem Sterling strike to progress to the next round where he will next meet Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah.
“I threw the game away, man,” Rashford complained in mock frustration after the defeat. “You know what? I’m going to play you again. I’m going to go back to the drawing board and play you later.”
According to Standard Sport, Sancho is apparently United’s top transfer priority this summer and the Red Devils are dead set on signing the England forward despite Borussia Dortmund’s hefty £120-million asking price.
Rashford and Sancho are playing buddies at international level, and it is understood that the United star has been playing doing his bit in ensuring that United edge out Chelsea in the summer tranfer window.
Rashford was asked how a link-up of himself, Sancho and Martial would be during a recent Instagram Live Q&A session with Bleacher Report, to which the United star replied, “It would be good, Sancho’s a great player, he’s sort of like the new-generation player.
“It’s definitely exciting to watch him becoming the player that he’s becoming, so credit to him.
“Hopefully we can all play together and that can be good.”
The Football’s Staying Home competition kicked off on Friday with 16 of England’s internationals from the men and women’s teams agreeing to take part in the FIFA 20 tournament, which will help raise funds for the National Emergencies Trust. The quarter-finals continue next week.
