AFC CUP: Bengaluru FC clinched the Inter-Zone Semi-Final qualification ticket with a 4-0 win over Aabahani Limited Dhaka

Bengaluru FC confirmed their Inter-Zonal semi-final qualification ticket after a convincing 4-0 over Aabahani Limited Dhaka in the final game of the Group E encounter. Bengaluru FC needed a win top Group E also lent a helping hand by compatriot Aizawl FC, who beat New Radiant FC (Maldives) 2-1 in another match.

Bengaluru took the lead in just 13 minutes as Abahani Limited was caught unguarded at the back in a quick counter-attack with Sunil Chhetri squaring off Daniel Segovia with an assist to finish with a simple tap-in. Just after three minutes, Chhetri was instrumental in creating another assist for Nishu Kumar as Bengaluru dominated the game with a 2-0 lead having possession and control of the game.

After the great, Chhetri-Nishu Kumar combined well once again in the 58th minute, as Nishu Kumar scored his second of the evening with a neatly struck volley to make it 3-0.

As Bengaluru dictated the terms on the pitch, Sunil Chhetri scored one himself at the hour mark capitalizing from Aabhani keeper’s mistake to slot home a loose ball into the net to make it 4-0.

With 15 points, Bengaluru FC topped Group E with a favor from Aizawl’s win over New Radiant SC as Inter-Zonal semi-final qualification challenge awaits them.
