Japan national team head coach Vahid Halilhodzic expects his players “to be Samurai warriors and compete without fear” in the remaining matches of the 2018 World Cup qualification.
The Samurai Blue need a win against Australia to qualify for the finals of next years’ World Cup, and the Serbian manager is confident that his team can secure the victory that will take them to Russia.
“We are taking it positively that we are given the challenge to beat Australia for the first time in the qualifiers. Without showing any fear, if we can compete in the wonderful atmosphere at home together with all our supporters as a united team, then I believe that we can certainly win the match,” the former Algeria national team head coach told reporters.
“This team has character and that is what we need for this Australia game. The players have to be Samurai warriors. I want the players who take part in the game to show that spirit and have no fear,” he added.
