The referee, who was authorized in the match between Vietnam and Cambodia on Thursday, apologized for awarding the latter team a penalty at the 82nd minute.
This information was reported by Vietnam U-22 head coach Nguyen Huu Thang to Vietnam Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien at a meeting in Berjaya Times Squares hotel on Saturday.
As reported by Bao Tin Tuc, after the Vietnam-Cambodia match, the referee admitted that Vietnam captain Bui Tien Dung had not touched the ball with his hand, which lead to his wrong penalty award to Cambodia.
Thang’s side have enjoyed a dream start with two big wins against Timor Leste and Cambodia. They will face the Philippines on Sunday and Indonesia on Thursday, before taking on defending champions Thailand on 24 August.
