Thanks to his impressive performance at his debut competitive game against Cerezo Osaka in Levain Cup, Chanathip Songkrasin has received a compliment from Consadole Sapporo chairman.
Consadole Sapporo chairman Yoshikazu Nonomura believes that the Thai midfielder has the potential to excel in the competitive J1 League.
“We were under pressure as we were behind our opponents. Jay came on in the second half and did his best for the team,” Nonomura said, as quoted by Bangkok Post.
“He has speed and he is also good at passing the ball.
“I followed his performance while he was at Muangthong United and the Thai national team. I believe Chanathip can play well and be a success in the J-League.”
After going in from the bench at the start of the second half, Chanathip put some pressure on the defense of Osaka by creating a couple of chances for his teammates. He even created a long-range but was saved by opponents’ goalkeeper Kentaro Kakoi.
Unfortunately, the efforts of the 23-year-old midfielder could not help Consadole avoid a 1-0 loss, thus being eliminated with a 3-0 aggregate defeat.
