Thailand secured a dramatic 5-4 penalty shootout win over Belarus to retain the King’s Cup at Rajamangala National Stadium on Monday.
The King’s Cup is an annual international football tournament organised by the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) since 1968.
The game ended in a goalless draw during 90 minutes and went straight to the penalty shootout round no extra-time is allotted in case of a draw at the end of regular time.
Belarus saw their two expert penalty takers miss their kicks while Thailand converted their four kicks, with only Peerapat Notchaiya failed to find the target.
It was the first silverware for Milovan Rajevac after the 63-year-old Serbian coach taking over the duty from Kiatisuk Senamuang in April.
