Hoang Anh Gia Lai have rejected an offer from Serbian SuperLiga side FK Vojvodina for defender Vu Van Thanh, since the Vietnamese striker has joined the U-23 team training camp as preparations for the next month’s SEA Games in Malaysia.
According to the representative of HAGL Nguyen Tan Anh, FK Vojvodina has sent an invitation to HAGL through the football agent Jernej Kamensek, announcing their desire to acquire the 21-year-old defender.
After considering the invitation, the V-League club had completed visa procedures for Van Thanh to travel to Serbia. However, HAGL chairman Doan Nguyen Duc eventually decides to reject the offer from FK Vojvodina, citing the reason that his homegrown player has to concentrate on the target of winning the 27th SEA Games title with the national U-23 team.
“We have discussed Van Thanh’s invitation to the Serbian club, but Van Thanh is focusing on the more important goal of winning the goal medal at SEA Games with Vietnam U-22 team, so he will be staying at home,” Tan Anh said, as quoted by Zing.vn.
Van Thanh joined HAGL’s Academy in 2007 and made his first team debut in 2015. He went on to make 60 V.League 1 appearances for the club and scored 16 goals.
