Gregorio Manzano has become one of the highest paid manager in the world after joining Chinese Super League outfit Guizhou Zhicheng as new head coach.
The former Sevilla and Atletico Madrid tactician received a contract worth a whopping €8m a year with the task of making sure Guizhou Zhicheng avoid the relegation zone.
“Wen Wei [Guizhou Zhicheng’s owner] will seek CSL survival at all costs. He won’t let his team suffer relegation,” said a senior member of team management as quoted by Guizhou Metropolitan Daily.
The Spanish coach has a high-profile career in CSL after successfully leading Beijing Guoan finished as a runner-up in 2014 season and also led Shanghai Shenhua to a respectable fourth place last season.
Guizhou Zhicheng, who promoted from China League One as runner-up last season, just captured their first win of the current campaign last Friday after recording six winless games.
