BGPU, Cerezo to Play Friendly with Borussia Dortmund

German giants Borussia Dortmund have announced that they will perform a tour of Asia for their 2024/25 pre-season, with the Black-and Yellow set to take on BG Pathum United in Pathum Thani on July 21st before traveling to Osaka where they will face Cerezo Osaka on July 24th.

Fresh off finishing as runners-up in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League and with former player Nuri Sahin at the helm, Dortmund will seek to further their presence in the Asian market with their trip to both Thailand and Japan.

Former Dortmund star Shinji Kagawa is part of the current Cerezo team, while former Cerezo youngster Mitsuru Maruoka was part of the Dortmund youth setup prior to becoming part of the BGPU team that won the 2020/21 Thai League 1 title.

Dortmund managing director Carsten Cramer had this to say on the Black and Yellow’s upcoming tour, “We’re excited to uphold our tradition of summer trips abroad in 2024. We’re aware of our significant fan base in Asia and are thrilled to be returning. This year, we’re particularly pleased to be visiting Bangkok and Osaka, two unique locations we’ve yet to explore.”
