Thai League 2019 top scorer Lonsana Doumbouya has joined Chinese League One side Meizhou Hakka from Trat FC.
The towering center-forward made a major impression in Thailand during his two campaigns with Prachuap and Trat respectively.
In his first season, the forward registered 16 goals from 26 games with the Killer Wasps, helping the newly-promoted side achieve a highly respectable 6th place finish. Along with goalscoring, the target-man contributed a lot to his side with excellent hold-up play and unselfish work off the ball. Unfortunately, his achievements were overshadowed by teammate Jonatan Reis, who registered 26 goals from 33 appearances.
Doumbouya then truly came into his own with a move to another newly-promoted side, Trat FC, in a move that surprised fans across the division who believed his performances warranted a move to a bigger team.
However, linking up with new teammates Adefolarin Durosinmi and Bireme Diouf, the striker showed his class by finishing the season as the Thai League’s top scorer with 20 goals from 28 appearances.
Doumbouya now joins a Meizhou Hakka side looking to build on their 10th-placed finish from last season and fight for promotion to the Chinese Super League.
