Ho Chi Minh City edge closer to Hanoi FC with a 2-1 win at Song Lam Nghe An’s stadium.

In the match at Vinh Stadium, Ho Chi Minh City struggled to find the hosts’ net in the opening minutes. Instead, they went on to concede a goal in the 27th minute after the mistake from a defender.

The hosts’ goal seemed to invigorate the side, and Ho Chi Minh City struck a goal to equalize in the 41st minute. The hosts’ defender Quang Tinh used his hand to clear the ball off the line and striker Victor Mansaray scored from the spot.

In the second half, with their opponents reduced to ten men due to the handball incident, Ho Chi Minh City controlled the game easily and struck the winning goal courtesy of Ismeheel in the 78th minutes, allowing them to come away with a favorable result.

With their 2-1 win over Song Lam Nghe An, Ho Chi Minh City now have 42 points, just two points behind Hanoi FC. However, the league leaders have a game in hand, after their game this weekend was postponed due to their AFC Cup commitments.

Meanwhile, near the bottom, Hoang Anh Gia Lai escaped ed the relegation playoff place with a 2-1 win over SHB Danang at home while Thanh Hoa dropped down to replace them after a 0-2 loss against Saigon.

Sanna Khanh Hoa remain at the bottom place with only 20 points after the 2-4 lost to Quang Nam.
