Thailand have announced their 23-man squad for the upcoming AFC Asian Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
Star goalkeeper Kawin Thamsatchanan, who currently plies his trade with Belgian side OH Leuven, has been ruled out of the squad through injury. This latest development compounds Thailand’s issues between the sticks, as both Siwarak Tedsungnoen and Chatchai Budprom looked shaky during the recent AFF Cup.
However, the return of the War Elephants’ J-League trio of Chanathip Songkrasin, Theerathon Bunmathan and Teerasil Dandga will give the side a boost ahead of the tournament. Additionally, experienced campaigners Tristan Do, Adisorn Promrak and Siroch Chatthong have also been drafted in.
Coach Milovan Rajevac is under pressure to perform after the mediocre display at the AFF Cup, and fans expect progression from a group comprising of India, Bahrain and hosts UAE.
