Official: Johor DT confirm signing of former Lyon, Melbourne City star

Johor DT have confirmed the signing of former Lyon and Melbourne City player, Harry Novillo as their latest foreign signing for the remainder of the season.

The 26 year-old will officially join the club when the May transfer window opens, as a replacement for Argentine striker Jorge Pereyra Diaz, who walked out on the team last month.

“The club would like to welcome Harry Novillo, formerly of Lyon and Melbourne City and currently playing in Dubai. He will be joining us when the transfer window opens,” Martin Prest, JDT’s Sports Director said via the Johor Southern Tigers’ official Facebook page.

“The club is delighted and happy to have a player of his calibre, a young and hungry player striving to achieve greatness, and wanting to be a part of the fastest growing, ambitious and determined club in South East Asia,” he added.

Novillo started his career with Olympique Lyonnais, but only made two appearances for them before transitioning into a bit of a journeyman. Since leaving Lyon in 2013, the pacey attacker has went on to play for five different clubs, including Melbourne City in the A-League, where he managed to establish himself as a fan favourite.

Despite signing a two-year contract extension with them in 2015, Novillo then moved to Turkish side Manisaspor, where he was constantly beleaguered by injuries in the first six months of his career, before opting to leave the club midway through the season and sign for Baniyas Club in Dubai.

Novillo, who can play on both flanks as well as in the No.9 role, played for the French U17 and U19 teams before opting to don the Martinique national team kit.
