Match fixing accusation in Iran- Sierra Leone friendly

Sierra Leone Football Federation (SLFA) president Isha Johansen has asked FIFA to investigate the possibility of match-fixing in Iran-Sierra Leone friendly match in Tehran.

Sierra Leone took on Iran with a strange squad and even before the match Mrs. Johansen tried to convince FIFA to suspend the match. She claimed that the agreement for the match had been reached without her notice.

However, she finally accepted to give permission for the match but now asked FIFA to investigate it.

As quoted by BBC Sport, Johansen wrote to FIFA: “I’d like to suggest the Match-Fixing Enquiry Committee looks into [how] this friendly was agreed upon and conducted by the SLFA.

“My fear is that activities may have already taken place unknowingly to me for which I may one day [have] to account for.”

Iran won this friendly 4-0 with goals of Mohammad Reza Khanzadeh, Ali Gholizadeh (2 goals) and Kaveh Rezaei.
