Muangthong United defeat Bangkok Glass in Thai League opener

Muangthong United made a winning Thai League season opener with a dominant 4-0 victory over Bangkok Glass.

Spanish striker Xisco, who already scored against Sukhothai in last month’s Thailand Champions Cup, opened the scoring in the 8th minute.

Brazilian attacker Cleiton Silva doubled the advantage in the second half, and just two minutes later Xisco smashed home his second goal. Peerapat Notchaiya added a fourth later in the 83rd minute.

Meanwhile, goals from Kim Chan-dong and Michael N’dri helped the newly-merged Police Tero to a 2-0 victory against Pattaya United in a match which saw their new signing Kalifa Cisse sent off in the last minutes.

The newly-promoted Ubon UMT had an impressive start to their league campaign as they handed a 2-0 loss to Si Sa Ket, while Ratchaburi were held by a last-minute equalizer from Port’s Japanese midfielder Genki Nagasato.
