Beijing Guoan could be deducted 10 points due to Cedric Bakambu signing

Chinese Football Association (CFA) could slap Beijing Guoan a 10-point deduction over their January signing of Cedric Bakambu from Villarreal.

South China Morning Post learns that Bakambu trained with Guoan at their pre-season camp in Portugal and even scored for the club at the Atlantic Cup.

However, the Chinese Super League has not yet been officially announced the French-born Congolese striker as their new signing or registered with the CFA.

In the newest announcement, the CFA said that clubs that evade the levy on transfers of up to 45 million yuan would have one point deducted from their tally in the league table, on up to 15 points for transfers surpassing 360 million yuan ($57 million) in value.

In Guoan case, Bakambu’s €40 million (US$49.1 million) release clause would be liable for a 10-point deduction, the second-most severe of the five tiers.
