Thailand U-23 coach Zoran Jankovic may be ousted from the charge, FAT technical chief reveals

Thailand U-23 Zoran Jankovic may face the axe following the disappointing performance of his side at the U-23 Championship in China.

The team was eliminated after the second straight loss in the tournament. They were beaten 1-0 by North Korea in their first group stage game last Wednesday, before suffering another loss by the same scoreline against defending champions Japan on Saturday.

On Monday, Football Association of Thailand (FAT) technical chief Witthaya Laohakul revealed that Jankovic may be dismissed from his charge.

He added that the FAT would discuss the Serbian’s future after the team return from China.

“The boys played well, but we got the tactics all wrong,” said Witthaya to Bangkok Post.

“Going for a draw against Japan was a mistake.

“We also lacked creativity in the offense and held on to a single style, which made it easier for the opponents to read our game and block our attacks.”
