Indonesia national team defender Kevin Diks has been confirmed to join German club Borussia Monchengladbach for the upcoming 2025/26 season.
Monchengladbach announced Diks’ arrival in an official statement released on Sunday.
“Diks, who holds both Dutch and Indonesian citizenship, will join Borussia on a free transfer on July 1 after the season in Denmark concludes. He has signed a contract with us until June 30, 2030,” stated a press release on Die Fohlen‘s official website.
Monchengladbach is optimistic that Diks’ presence will strengthen their defensive line. The club, which has won the Bundesliga title five times, sees great potential in Diks’ versatility, as he can operate as a central defender or as a fullback on either side.
“Kevin brings experience and is a versatile defender who can play in all positions across the backline—center, left, or right. His addition makes us more flexible defensively,” said Borussia Monchengladbach Sporting Director Roland Virkus.
Virkus also highlighted non-technical attributes that make Monchengladbach an ideal club for Diks.
“Additionally, he’s a great person who knows exactly what he wants. He will fit in perfectly with us,” added Virkus.
Germany will be a new chapter in Diks’ football career. The defender has previously played in the Netherlands with Vitesse and Feyenoord, and in Italy with Fiorentina and Empoli. Since 2019, Diks has been competing in Denmark, where he has represented AGF and Copenhagen.
He’s also set to become the second Indonesian to play in the top five European leagues in recent times, after Venezia’s Jay Idzes.
Diks, who has previously represented the Netherlands at youth levels, from U-19 to U-21, has earned one cap for the Indonesian national team. His debut came in a match against Japan during the third round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
Currently, Borussia Monchengladbach is mid-table in the Bundesliga, sitting in eighth position.
