Filip Nguyen, a goalkeeper from the Czech Republic with Vietnamese heritage, has earned a call-up to the country of his birth after being reportedly courted by Vietnam.
Filip Nguyen, a Czech goalkeeper of Vietnamese heritage, as he has been called up to feature for the European side, according to this report by VNExpress.
The goalkeeper, who currently plays his club football for Slovan Liberec in the Czech First League, was repeatedly courted by Vietnam in an effort to recruit him for the national team.

The 27-year-old was yet to complete his citizenship process when he was called up to the Czech Republic national team, after members of the squad tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the first team to quarantine and miss their upcoming match.
However, since he has not yet featured in a game for the Czech Republic national team, he could still be eligible to play for Vietnam if he is not selected to start during the side’s upcoming fixtures.
