Thai League side BG Pathum United are reportedly plotting a remarkable swoop for Johor Darul Ta’zim and former Buriram United forward Diogo Luis Santo.
The 33-year-old striker, currently starring for the Malaysian Super League champions, has six months remaining on his current contract.
As confirmed by the club, BG Pathum United are now in talks to sign Diogo, who should be able to join on a free transfer for the second leg of the Thai League season.
Diogo established himself as a Thai League legend over the course of four seasons with Buriram United, scoring a scarcely believable 101 goals in 105 games at the Thunder Castle.
The Brazilian forward also helped his side win six major honors in that time, and is widely considered to be the best player to ever grace the Thai League.
This remarkable signing would follow a host of other impressive transfers by BG Pathum United this season. The club recently secured a deal to sign Diogo’s former teammate and Buriram talisman Andres Tunez, as well as Muangthong United captain Sarach Yooyen.
BG’s star-studded lineup is now full of players who have achieved major success at other Thai League clubs. The Rabbits hope that this spending spree can make them competitors for the Thai League title this season, and would receive a major boost if they are able to secure Diogo’s coveted signature.
