Former Thailand national team coach Kiatisuk Senamuang has tipped six-time Thai League champions Buriram United for the title this season, according to this interview he gave with Siamsport.

Kiatisuk, commonly known as ‘Zico’ by fans, says that Buriram can still win the league title despite a slow start to the season which has seen them pick up just four points from as many games.

The former National Team boss cited the side’s winning mentality and the fact that they will be motivated to go the extra step after losing on goal difference against Chiangrai United in an incredibly tense title race last season.

However, the side still have some problems to sort out, such as their foreign player quota, which they are yet to decide.

Zico further claimed that big-spending BG Pathum United are still unfamiliar with the path to being Thai League champions, and could still struggle despite recently announcing the signings of former Muangthong captain Sarach Yooyen and Buriram star defender Andres Tunez.

Lastly, the revered coach advised against dismissing Muangthong United and defending champions Chiangrai in this season’s title race. Despite their financial difficulties, he claimed that these sides still pose a threat at the upper end of the table.

Bangkok United currently lead the way having collected total points from their first four games, and are closely followed by Ratchaburi who have done the same. Port and BG Pathum United sit third and fourth respectively, having collected ten points.
