Muangthong United are reportedly targeting Indonesia’s star winger Febri Hariyadi as their next ASEAN quota signing, and are in negotiations with his club Persib Bandung, according to various reports in both Thai and Indonesian media.
The Kirin currently have two other ASEAN players on the books – Vietnamese goalkeeper Dang Van Lam and Filipino left-back Daisuke Sato. The club could be looking to fill their last slot with Hariyadi to give them more options in attack.
Currently 24 years old, Hariyadi has been playing for Persib Bandung for the entirety of his career thus far and is very highly rated at the club. He is known for his impressive pace and dribbling ability. He has made 15 appearances for the Indonesian senior national team and was included in the Liga 1 Team of the Year for his excellent performances in 2019.
This move comes after Muangthong has recently sold a number of senior players and now field the youngest squad in the league. Hariyadi’s arrival would be in line with the club’s long-term strategy of signing younger players with high potential and resale value in the future.
If he does join Muangthong, Febri will be the second Indonesian player currently in the Thai League, following in the footsteps of Yanto Basna who currently plays for Sukhothai FC.
