The Dutch Eredivisie will not declare a champion this year after the competition was canceled and the results were voided following the league’s decision.
As per this report from the BBC, the decision means that the league will not have promotion and relegation, and will not declare a champion either, cutting short the intense battle between leaders Ajax and AZ Alkmaar.
However, both clubs will enter the qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League next season, whenever that will eventually be held.
More discouragingly, the president of the Dutch football association (KNVB) expressed his doubts that other European nations will be able to finish their campaigns during the window for the 2020-21 season.
Elsewhere, the German Bundesliga is set to continue their campaign later this month, while the Premier League are yet to make a final decision as to the fate of their competition this season,
